Abhyangam Therapy

Shiro Dhara

Ela Kizhi
The word Elakizhi means the use of leaf bolus. Ela is the Malayalam word for leaves. Kizhi refers to a bolus or potli. The potli or kizhi is a cloth pouch filled with fresh or dried herbs that is massaged over the body. Reduces aches and pains: The targeted heat alleviates pain caused by arthritis, muscle strains, and joint stiffness. Improves circulation: Increased blood flow promotes healing and nourishes tissues with essential nutrients.
Podi Kizhi
Podikizhi refers to body massage with a bag of herbal powder. Podikizhi is also called Choornna Pinda Sweda. The massage with poultice is done over the affected area or, as required, the whole body. Podikizhi increases blood circulation, so it additionally helps in further developing the complexion of the skin. It eases body aches and fortifies muscles and skin.
Njavara Kizhi
Navarakizhi (Navara – Medicated rice; Kizhi – Bolus or Patli) is one of the most popular sweat-inducing therapies which is used to relieve pain and stiffness in the muscles. It helps in improving muscle strength. Navarakizhi provides nourishment and strength to body tissues including bones, muscles, and soft tissues.
Greeva Vasthi

Uro Vasthi
The word “Urovasthi” comes from the Sanskrit words uro (chest) and vasti (to retain). The treatment involves creating a compartment over the chest using black gram flour and water, and then pouring warm medicated oil into it.
Pichu
